The Blues is a Band-Aid on a jagged wound
cuz love can cut like a serrated knife
see my fingers itch to stroke my cat
but a bad sign is hanging over the door

love can cut like a carving knife
see my cat been creeping late at night
a bad sign is hanging over my back door
seems another dog been licking out my bowl

my cat been creeping out at night
she used to purr if I rubbed her belly right
but another dog’s been lick out my bowl
and the flavor’s gone from my favorite bone

she used to purr when I rubbed her right
now my fingers itch to stroke my cat
seems the flavor’s gone from my favorite bone
but the Blues is a Band-Aid on my bone-deep wound.
