Intern at Cave Canem
Cave Canem internships provide students and life-long learners with opportunities to gain knowledge of the ins-and-outs of arts administration and to become better acquainted with the thriving literary scene of New York City and beyond. Interns assist with marketing, programs, research and administrative projects. Candidates should be enthusiastic about poetry, be able to work independently, be computer literate and have undergraduate or graduate experience in English, African American Studies, creative writing, journalism, communications or business administration. Interns are asked to work a minimum of ten hours per week for a period of at least three months. Academic credit is available.
Summer Internship Intensive
Candidates may apply for a more rigorous internship, conducted mid-May through August. This is an opportunity for in-depth engagement with long-term projects. Summer interns are asked to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, and may be invited to assist staff at the annual Cave Canem retreat, held in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Candidates interested in a retreat internship will be asked for pay for their own room-and-board ($500) and travel, and are advised to seek funding through their universities.
